Mrs. Clarabelle Fennelly was a fiddler from one of the most Irish areas on the Island of Newfoundland - Aquaforte, on the Southern Shore. She began playing the accordion for dances at the tender age of eight. Newfoundland terms: Fiddler - anyone who plays for a dance, no matter what instrument they play. Single - a fast dance tune in 2/4, similar to an Irish Polka, and used for the Set (Square Dance). Banker - a schooner that fishes on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland or a fisherman who sails on her.
